Our online courses are designed to help you gain a clearer, more comprehensive understanding of the requirements in Department of Defense Manual 4145.26 (13 March 2008, incorporating Change 2), DoD Contractors’ Safety Manual for Ammunition and Explosives.
Course content presents the Manual’s text (or direct, clearly identified summaries) for informational and educational purposes only. These courses are not official training. They do not constitute legal, engineering, or professional safety advice. They do not replace site-specific training, a Technical Data Package, professional consultation, or any official compliance determination required by your employer, contract, applicable regulations and responsible safety auditor.
A certificate issued upon successful completion documents only that you finished this course and met its stated assessment criteria. It is not a certification and does not guarantee that your facility, process, or program will pass a survey, audit, or contract review.

The Manual’s purpose is to minimize accidents that could interrupt DoD operations, delay production, damage property, injure personnel, or endanger the public. Understanding that spirit and intent is useful. It does not make the Manual automatically binding in every situation. You must validate all contractual requirements, interpretations, and applications with the activity administering the contract and the procuring activity that awarded the contract.
These courses do not relieve you of the duty to coordinate with the DoD procuring activity. Questions, interpretations, clarifications, approvals, or waivers must come from the Authority Having Jurisdiction—normally the Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO), Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO), or designated authority. Do not rely on this course or S&M Safety Training LLC for official or binding contractual guidance.
As stated in DoDM 4145.26: “Questions on interpretation of any requirement in this Manual by the contractor should be submitted through the contractor’s assigned administrative contracting officer to the procuring contracting officer for further review and resolution.”
